About Avalon

We Build

Building great landscapes is what we do, whether designed by us or by someone else. It’s at our core and we proudly guarantee everything we do, forever.

Of course, we have everything the other guys have – we’re bonded, licensed and insured – but Avalon has something a little special. We have a belief that the relationship we build with you (and with your designer or contractors) is as important as the beautiful landscapes we build.

Rather than provide a laundry list of our services, we’d like to say we’re up for anything. The best way to learn about the things we do is to check out our portfolio. Spend some time clicking through the photos and read a few testimonials from past clients (we’re also happy to connect you with a former client if you’d like). We’ve done some great projects over the years, but we’re always game to try new things as well!

We Design

In addition to building great landscapes we also design them. Kevin Monohan has been designing locally for more than 15 years. He skillfully marries the best of your ideas with the best of his and puts them to paper.

We founded Avalon NW in 1996; we are Keith Jellerson and Kevin Monohan.

When we started the company our mission was simple – provide high-quality, beautiful and sustainable landscapes to people in and around Seattle. What we’ve come to appreciate, over the years, is that our company is about more than that. Our mission has grown to include not only crafting great outdoor spaces but also creating and sustaining wonderful relationships with our clients.

We are transparent (you know what we know). We are passionate. We are real people that truly care about our work and cherish the relationships we have with our clients. We also know that any sort of construction to your home is a disruption so we do whatever we can to minimize our impact. Some of the ways we do that is by:

- Ensuring you work with one project manager, from when we first talk on the phone until we do our final walk-thru.

- Giving you 24/7 access to us during your project; call or meet with us any time.

- Providing you with as much information as you can handle about your project and your options when a decision needs to be made.

- Guaranteeing everything we do. As long as you remember our phone number, we’re happy to jet out and tackle any issue, concern or question that may arise, even long after we’ve gone.

We also blog regularly about our current projects, sharing thoughts and photos of our building processes. Our blog also gives us a chance to showcase our amazing crew.

Our Commitment to the Environment

As a company that works with and around nature every day, we strive to be as environmentally conscious as possible. This means keeping our commuting time to a minimum and running our vehicles on local, sustainable biodiesel from Dr. Dan’s. When we source our materials, we think local first and draw from the Pacific Northwest as much as possible. We also strive to use all organic materials in our landscapes.

Our Commitment to the Community

Our connection to our clients and the community is an integral part of how our company operates. We know that having a crew working on your property can be intrusive, and we aim to make our presence at worst painless and at best, a downright pleasant experience. As well as building strong relationships with our clients, we try to build relationships within the community by reaching out to neighbors and donating to local auctions.

We also consider our employees’ happiness as a part of this commitment to community, and as such we strive to provide our crew with a comfortable living wage, health benefits, and a positive, fun work environment. We try to foster a strong sense of comradery and friendship through outings and team-building activities. We believe that if our crew genuinely look forward to coming in each morning, that positivity will be reflected through their work.
